Applicant and Technical Assistance Coordinator

Reports to: Program Manager
Location: 625 University Ave W, St. Paul, Minnesota
Terms: Hybrid, Full-time, Salary.
Shift: Standard Hours, with occasional weekends required. Increased in-office presence may be required during key stages of the grant round.
Compensation: $55k plus benefits

Organizational Overview

The Neighborhood Development Center (NDC) is a non-profit, community development financial institution providing integrated business services to low-income community entrepreneurs to start and grow businesses in their own neighborhood.  These businesses then enrich the economic and social fabric of the community. In 2023, NDC was humbled to be named the administrator of the Minnesota PROMISE Act Grants Program for the Twin Cities. The PROMISE Act Grants Program will deliver grants to businesses in North Minneapolis, South Minneapolis, and St. Paul that have been adversely affected by structural racial discrimination, civil unrest, and lack of access to capital. Job Summary

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting entrepreneurs and collaborating with community organizations. 

Ideal candidates will be mission driven, detail-oriented, and have strong organizational and communication skills. Previous program development, grant management and community connections required. Ability to lead in ambiguity, strong cultural fluency, and possess a sense of urgency. Connections to the Twin Cities communities are highly valued.

We are offering multiple rounds of the grant application process. The day-to-day activities of this role will vary, based on the stage of the grant cycle we are in. Key responsibilities may include:

  • Overall management of the grant technical and applicant assistance program
  • Evaluation of current systems and recommendation of process improvements
  • Training and oversight of all applicant/technical support providers
  • Ongoing collaboration with grant community partners, contractors and NDC grant team
  • Weekly tracking and overall invoice management of applicant/technical support hours

Requirements

  • Highly organized with an ability to create and maintain key program processes.
  • Excellent communicator, capable of engaging effectively with applicants, community partners, and contractors via phone and email.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.).
  • Skilled in basic data management.
  • Technically adept, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new platforms.
  • Efficient and detail-oriented, able to work swiftly without compromising accuracy.
  • Experience or strong interest in working with diverse communities; bilingual skills are a plus.
  • Dedication to delivering a program guided by equity and accessibility
  • Demonstrated commitment to delivering exceptional customer service to applicants.

Helpful Qualifications and Background

  • Familiar with WizeHive or other grant management platforms.
  • Comfort with CRMs such as HubSpot and Salesforce
  • Experience with entrepreneurs and small business owners
  • Previous experience with government contracts
